Early results are already coming in. This post will be updated as the regions finish up. These are the Automatic qualifiers for the State meet. These are the 1st place winners. I am foreseeing a predicament arising as I look to compile regional results this year so I can determine which teams/swimmers get called up to the state meet. Last year, I used Meet Mobile to find results as every single regional meet was listed there. This year, if you take a look, there are some regionals not listed. I think I mentioned how insanely fast Region 4 6A looked on the psych sheet. Well, they lived up to their naming as the death region based on results from yesterday. You can find that region plus anything else I can find linked below: Region 4 6A Prelims

It's that time of year again. Button over at  texasswimming.blogspot.com  has asked me to compile the State qualifiers and call-ups like I did last year. This is the place you'll find them. Like I did last year, my first two posts will be for the automatic qualifiers since that is the easiest thing to compile. The call-up qualifier swimmers will come afterwards. There will be an individual post for each. One post for the 6A automatic qualifiers, one post for the 5A automatic qualifiers, one post for the 6A call-up qualifiers, and one post for the 5A call-up qualifiers. TISCA recently submitted a proposal to the UIL committee to increase the number of qualifiers to the Texas High School State swim meet to 24 total qualifiers. The changes included 2 automatic qualifiers from each region to the state meet and then 8 additional call-ups. The final vote as to whether this will be adopted will happen at the October UIL meeting. If passed, these changes will go into effect for the 2016-2017 swim season. I like the changes because having more swimmers at the state championships is always a good thing. But, I'm not quite sure that having 2 automatic qualifiers from each region is the best solution. I would have asked to just have 1 automatic qualifier like it is currently, and then have 16 total call-ups. I believe that having 16 call-ups will make the meet more competitive than having 2 automatic qualifiers from each region.

The folks over at collegeswimming.com have created a new resource for high school swimmers interested in continuing their career in swimming. They have made a website called prepswimming.com which will provide resources for NISCA, state organizations, and coaches.
